Environment and sustainability

PerCoTech develops high temperature superconductors for the application in a new, lasting energy scenario. Promising applications for high temperature superconductors are expected for:

High current medium-voltage underground cable
Fault current limiters
Turning machines (engines, generators)
Transformers
Energy storage (SMES)

After a study of the Tampere University of Technology with the application of superconductors all over the european union up to 65% of the reduction of CO2 emissions demanded by the Kyoto protocol can be achieved.

The worldwide climate change is already considered by investors of the finance markets as an important influence factor for the economic development of enterprises. Those investors are taking climate protection as a new criterion at the stock selection and weighting into account. A group of institutional investors is already now requesting frequently well-known international groups - among them 200 German enterprises - to disclose their strategies and issues due to their climate risks and green house gas emissions. PerCoTech sees itself here as a pacemaker in the area of new, climate friendly technologies which makes it possible to realize completely new concepts with superconducting wires for the connection of power plants, consumers and decentralized energy entry points at all voltage levels.
